Magic vs Magick- Is There a Difference?
Rebecca HaynesShare
I recently saw a comment on one of my Pinterest pins about the fact that I did not know how to spell the word magick. Now I am assuming that they are referencing the fact that normally, the word magic (at least here in Australia), is spelt with a "c" instead of "ck" at the end.
As someone who has always been around esoteric terms in one way or another, I thought this was interesting, I have always known of the term magick, but it occurred to me that many people have probably never come across this term and probably believe that I truly am bad at spelling.
So what is the difference between magick and magic?
Magick is a term that is often used in esoteric circles to differentiate between ritual magic (magick) and pulling a rabbit out of a hat type of magic (magic).

It is an old way of spelling the word magic and it has been used by the likes of Aleister Crowley to differentiate between esoteric magick/ occult magick and stage magic or fictional magic.
So when you see the term magick used in blog posts and books by people writing about esoteric/occult subjects, you will know that it is not that we cannot spell properly (although sometimes we can't- we are human after all :)), it is just that we are differentiating between stage magic/fictional magic and ritual magick. Plus doesn't the word magic just look more powerful with a "k" at the end?
Let us know if you are familiar with the term Magick. Are there any other terms that you get pulled up on that people just don't understand why you use them? Do you sometimes feel as though you speak another language :) We'd love to hear your thoughts!
